Building Services Team

Hiring Building Services Engineers in Ireland

Elwood Roberts helps contractors, FM providers, data centre operators, and building services consultancies. They hire hard-to-find building services talent across Ireland. There is a strong focus on Dublin.

If you need reliable Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Electricians, or Plumbers, we can assist you. We also offer services for HVAC/Building Services Engineers and other specialists. We provide a structured recruitment service. This service includes talent advisory to reduce hiring risk and shorten time-to-hire.

What we do (and who we help)

We support organisations that need to hire quickly but don’t have a large internal recruitment team.

Typical clients include:

  • Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractors
  • Electrical contractors and service companies
  • HVAC and building services firms
  • Facilities Management (FM) and service operations teams
  • Data centre operations and infrastructure teams
  • Building services consultancies and project delivery teams
Roles we recruit (building services & engineering)

We recruit across permanent and contract hiring, including:

  • Mechanical Engineer (Building Services / MEP)
  • Electrical Engineer (Building Services / MEP)
  • Electricians (commercial, industrial, maintenance)
  • Plumbers (commercial, industrial, maintenance)
  • HVAC Engineer / HVAC Technician
  • Facilities Engineer / Facilities Technician
  • BMS Engineer / Controls Engineer
  • Maintenance Engineer (electrical/mechanical)
  • M&E Supervisor / Site Supervisor
  • Project Engineer / Project Manager (M&E / building services)
  • Commissioning Engineer

If you’re hiring for a role not listed, we can still help—most building services hiring challenges are repeatable once the role is defined properly.

Our approach: structured hiring support (not just CVs)

Most hiring problems in building services come down to unclear role definition, slow decision-making, and inconsistent screening. We fix that with a practical, repeatable process.

You can expect:

  • Clear role definition and a realistic candidate profile
  • Market feedback on salary/rates and availability
  • Targeted outreach and candidate engagement
  • Structured screening aligned to your site environment and project needs
  • Shortlists that match the job (not just keyword CVs)
  • Support through offer, notice period, and start date

Our Data Center Building Services jobs Include:

Electrical Engineer
Server repair techncian working in a data center

Join a high-performing delivery team supporting critical data center electrical infrastructure (LV/MV) across live environments.
You’ll coordinate electrical packages from install through commissioning, working closely with M&E contractors, vendors, and site ops.
Strong knowledge of power distribution, switch gear, UPS, generators, earthing/bonding, and containment is key.
You’ll review drawings, method statements and test packs, and help drive QA/QC and handover.
Expect a safety-first culture: permit-to-work, LOTO, RAMS, and compliance are non-negotiable.
We’re looking for solid site experience, clear reporting, and confidence working to program deadlines.
Trade/degree qualification preferred, plus strong communication with stakeholders on-site.

Mechanical Engineers
Person decommissioning servers in a data center

Work on mission-critical mechanical systems in a fast-paced data center environment (new build, fit-out, or upgrades).
You’ll support delivery and commissioning of HVAC, chilled water, CRAH/CRAC, ventilation, pipework, and fire suppression interfaces.
Day-to-day includes coordinating subcontractors, tracking progress, and resolving technical issues on site.
You’ll review drawings, specs, ITPs and commissioning plans, ensuring quality and safe execution.
Experience in live/critical environments is a big plus—downtime risk is taken seriously.
Strong understanding of health & safety, RAMS, permits, and change control is required. Ideal for someone practical, organised, and comfortable working with multiple trades and vendors.

Electricians
People working in a data center, some repairing servers, others working on cabling.

We’re hiring Electricians for data center projects and live-site works supporting critical power and infrastructure.
You’ll install and maintain containment, cabling, panels, lighting, small power, and equipment connections to high standards.
You’ll work to drawings, follow site procedures, and complete testing/verification where required.
Safety is central: you must be confident with LOTO, permit-to-work, RAMS, and working in controlled environments.
Experience around UPS/generators/switchgear rooms is beneficial (training can be provided depending on role). We need reliable tradespeople who show up, communicate clearly, and keep quality tight.
Valid trade qualification and site experience are essential; data centre experience is a strong advantage.
